TITLE: Fair Play Code
DATE APPROVED: May 28, 2010
Fair Play is a program introduced to enhance and promote SAFETY and RESPECT and a positive environment in minor lacrosse for all participants.
FAIR PLAY HAS FIVE BASIC PRINCIPLES:
Respect officials and their decisions
Respect the rules
Respect the opponents
Have everyone participate
Maintain self control at all times
Fair Play encourages and expects all players on all teams to be as competitive as possible.
STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURE will be the following:
FAIR PLAY: All team players are to be played equally during every game with only one exception. In the last 5 minutes of a “Meaningful Game”, Coaches may shorten the bench. A “Meaningful Game” is one that could enable the entire team to move on to further play thereby getting all players one or two more games. This may include any games leading to and including Provincials. The foregoing also applies to Goalies.
All Truro Minor Lacrosse Coaches are required to devise a playing strategy which allows all players on each team to participate fully and equally during all games. Failure to to adhere to this policy will lead to disciplinary action by the Board of Truro Minor Lacrosse, which disciplinary action could include suspension/replacement of coaches on team rosters.
PLAYER’S GUIDELINES
School takes precedence over lacrosse therefore if a player is suspended from school they are also suspended from participating in Truro Minor Lacrosse..
When scored upon players will support their goalie and commit to working harder to help them.
Players are responsible for their own equipment and will ensure that it is complete, safe and in good condition.
Players shall participate in every game and every practice except in case of illness, injury or school events. If a player must miss a game or practice the team manager must be notified as early as possible.
Players must remember that they are representing their team, association, league and their town.
Players must be well behaved at all times in public places especially on the road.
